What It Is

The Tech 7 is the newest boot in Alpinestars' line of high-performance motocross footwear. Meant to replace the popular Tech 6, the Tech 7 is a traditionally styled boot without the internal removable bootie that the more expensive Tech 8 and Tech 10 boots have.

Hits

The Tech 7 is a very aesthetically pleasing boot, and quite possibly the best-looking boot on the market. At first glance, the new 7 looks much like the high-end Tech 10, with its bonded sole and new-style buckles. We love the bonded sole, as it has smooth surfaces and no lip to get hung up on the parts of your bike that your boots come into contact with. From the moment you pull the Tech 7 on, it is comfortable and requires little to no break-in time. We were able to slip into ours on race day morning, ride practice, and be completely comfortable and used to them by the time moto one rolled around. The buckles are easy to operate and they offer a wide range of adjustment. The rubber gaiters at the top of the boots seal nicely and keep dirt and moisture out. Furthermore, they do a fine job of keeping your boots from snagging on the plastic panels of your bike. The Tech 7s have above average ankle support and a nice, firm sole that still offers excellent feel for the footpegs. With over a dozen rides in our test pair, the bottoms of the soles seem to be holding up very well and are showing no signs of above-average wear.

Misses

It is important to properly click the buckles completely shut, as they can come open if not locked properly. The Tech 7 runs slightly larger than the Tech 8 and Tech 10 boots by about a half size.

The Verdict

We wouldn't be surprised if the Tech 7 rapidly becomes Alpinestars' best-selling boot. With great looks, good support, exceptional comfort, and an affordable price tag, the Tech 7 is the best traditionally styled, non-bootie, non-hinged boot on the market.

Love my Alpinestars
" I have worn Tech 8's for ever until this year. Due to cost increases I stepped back to the Tech 7 and have to say I am not disappointed ! from the minute I put them on, to taking them off at the end of the day. A very comfortable boot, solid fit and quality built into the Tech 7. That is why I wear Alpinestar Boots ! "

touch buckles
" this is a good boot as far as flexibility, feel and looks go, but once you get the buckles on they are extremely hard to get off and they rub on my ankles when i stand up and ride, not enough to blister or anything but enough to be irritating, a good boot. but i think i will try another brand next time. Typical Astars Quality
" Had been buying the Astars Tech 3's for a while and decided to upgrade to the Tech 7. This is a great boot, fits well and true to size. I like the extra quality features on the Tech 7 with the upgraded aluminum buckles versus the plastic buckles on the Tech 3. So far they have been comfortable as I break them in getting ready for this race season. I race hare scrambles and the Astars (tech 3) have always provided good protection and comfort. I expect the Tech 7 to be just as good and offer a little more durability. "

" These boots are okay. They aren't terribly comfortable, right one bites my ankle still, after 6 rides. And the buckles are too hard to open and close!!! I've tried lubing them, but at the end of a 100 mile dirt bike ride, I want them off, and need a screw driver to pry them open, this sucks! "

Good Boot!
" Upgraded from Tech-3's. This boot is more comfortable than Tech-3's and has better hardware. The left toe shift area is showing a little wear after only five day long desert rides, but I also put on a new Hammerhead shifter at the same time I started using the Tech-7's which may be a factor. "

Very Nice
" These are the most comfortable boots I have worn in a while. I have been rocking the 661 Flight boots for the past five years, and man was I missing out. The Tech 7's fit great, take very little break in time, and over all work well. Only problem I have is that after they break in, some of the buckles require a firm smack to get them to lock in. Not as bad as the Fox 360 boots from back in the day, but at least a kick from the other boot. Overall, I'll buy another pair! "

Good Boots
" These are the best boots i have ever had. They are very comfortable and flexible. The flexibility allows for good shift and brake control. These boots are extremely durable for the flexibility they have. I have had them a little over one season and hope to get one more season out of them. The replaceable soles seem to be a good idea i have not replaced mine and don't know if i will. "

Excellent Boots
" Awesome boots, run true to size so get your actual shoe size...wish i would've known that, my tech 10's ran small so i went with that and my tech 7's are a little big but they are adjustable enough to make up for the oversize. Tech 7 Boots
" Great boots, went from a fox forma to the Tech 7 and will never look back. Great price! I was sceptical about the molded sole, feeling that it might not allow for dexterity, but was pleasently surprised when I made only one lap and felt that they worked great. They didnt stomp the break accidently and never have had trouble finding the shift lever. They feel far more rigid and protective than the Foxs ever did. A great balance of rigid protection adn dexterity. The only downside is that I wear an 8.5 in boots usually, and i really feel that an 8.5 would be better than a 9 or an 8, Alpinestars doesnt offer half sizes, so try them on first! Other than that, these are the best pair of boots i've ever worn. And as far as comfort.... no blisters, sores anything, just like wearing armored pillows! Buy them! "

great boots for the money
" For the price, I dont think you can beat these boots. They didnt take long to break in and the thing that I like about them is that they dont get floppy after they are broken in, they stay rigid. After breaking my ankle once, that is one thing that I never want to happen again and I am confident in saying that there is almost no possible way to break an ankle in these bad boys. They take a while to get use to because of how rigid they are. For example, I tend to get my toes stuck under the brake or shift lever while jumping and because of how stiff the boots are, I cant just bend my foot down and twist it to the side. I actually have to move my whole leg out, which is a little scary, but Im sure that problem will be solved with time and getting used to these boots. Durability.... I have ridden hard in these boots about 4 times now( about 2 hours total on-the-track time) and the boots dont show any signs of wear. Although, I did break the snap receiver on one of the boots last weekend. I took a nasty spill and when I got off the track I looked down to see one of my straps flopping around....Im hoping that was just a one time fluke. Luckily, they are easily replaced. "

" Bought for x-mas for son have not rode yet but real sturdy ,great fit and support. Old lesser quality boots wore out on bottom after 2 seasons ,like that you can replace bottom of these if needed without junking boot. He wanted Alpines because I still am riding with my Alpines that I bought in the 70s , all leather with metal shin guard still look and fit good hope these are still made as well as the old ones. "

" I bought these Boots 2years ago. And im still wearing them. The buckes still work and still clean up and look close to new. They hvae about 60-70 races and about 100 or so rides. Onley problem i hvae is on the right boot the sole is ripping apart from the back break. But thats normal for a 2 year boot. I would deffinatly reccomend these boots to anyone. There great. "

Super protective boots!
" They are a little heavy feeling when you first get them, but they break in over time. When switching from a lower end boot, it takes some time to get used to not feeling the shifter/brake lever as easily, but the added protection these boots provide outweigh that issue! I've crashed a few times and they are super stiff and and protective, roots and rocks are no match for these. Plus, the comfort level is unmatched by any other boot I've tried on...these feel, look, and perform great!!!! "

Tech 7 boot
" OK I purchased these boots about 1.5yrs ago because I wanted a boot that did not look so bad after 4 months of use, so I wanted a boot that was more plastic than leather. Pro- the boot is super stiff which I like so my ankles never get twisted or flexed when I come up short on a jump. Since the boot is mainly plastic, it looks good for a long time. 1.5yr years and the boot still looks fairly new still. Con- so material at the soles center is so stiff that it does not allow the foot peg cleats to dig in and grip. When my boots get some mud on the bottom and I come off a big jump, 5 out of 10 times my boot slip off the pegs. I have to keep the pegs super sharp at all times with this boot. "

Great Boots
" Boots support my feet. they are durable and dont hurt your feet. I have had my boots for over 2 years. I like the tech7 over the higher numbers because there is no inner booty that needs to be cleaned and or replaced. that inner booty can trap moisture and cause mold in your boots. i know of people who have had them and went back to the tech 6 & 7 because of the lack of that booty. Best Boots Ever
" I love these boots, they feel great and look good. They do show rubmarks and scuffs but it comes off. Alpinestars are the best boot I have ever worn. They were broke in after the first ride. I dont even know Im wearing boots when I have them on there a great buy, even at $289.00 there worth it, foot injuries happen. I rather pay for boots not a broken foot. "

Great Boot
" I bought the blue and white pair which look very good but do show alot of rub marks on the innner side from griping the bike but the marks will rubb off with a little bit of efort. The boots do take about to rides to get fully broken inwhich is not too bad. When i bought mine i woar them around the house for a while which helped out alot. Other than the break in period these are excellent boots for the money. "

Great boot for the price
" This was the first pair of boots that I have bought. When I got a bigger bike I decided that I needed more support and protection then just a pair of hiking boots. I had looked around for awhile toying with getting a cheaper pair but was sold on the style of the Tec 7's. They had a lot in common with the Tec 10's. I really liked the looks and the comfort was great. I did notice while trying them on that I did need a complete size smaller than my normal shoe size. I wear a sz 13 and I got a 12 and the fit was perfect. I have used these boots mostly trail riding and I would say are worth every penny, and have saved my ankles from many a stump. The only thing that I have against these boots are the buckles don't want to snap very easily. All in all I would recommend these boots. "

" I recieved my new white/grey tech 7 boots from motosport outlet and imediatly liked the look of the boot. Simple easy to use buckle system is great. Alpines Save My Ankles
" They are super comfortable and for the price you pay have got to be the best bang for your buck. These puppies fit like a glove, are durable, and protect your litttle feet. Plus when you buy a set of Alpine Stars you know you are getting great quality and will not have to worry about finding replacement parts, because Alpinestars are infamous for having replacement soles, straps and other goodies for you boots readily available. Great product, great service
" I discovered my boots were gone on Tuesday and the upcoming weekend was the Old timers National at Washougal motocross park. I called Motosport and they recomended the Alpenstar Tech7 boots as a sure winner so I bought them. They were at my house on Thursday and I wore them for the first time at the race. I was impressed by how little break in was required and how comfortable they were. I truly believe they helped me win my class. I have ridden with them many times since and continue to be immpresed. The only glitch I have found in the boots is the lack of buckle strap adjustment for guy's with large calves like me. "

Value - Support - Protection
" Earlier this year, I broke my heel bone into pieces while riding in a pair of work boots. When it came time to ride again, I first sold the pair of cheap MX boot I had not been wearing at the time because they were so uncomfortable. The brand shall remain nameless for now. Let's just say if you tried, you could probably "track" them down... Back to finding a new pair of boots... when I set out to find a new pair, price was NO object. I would pay up to and including 500 dollars if that is what it took to protect my foot. ($500 is a fraction of what it will cost you to rehab a broken ankle or heel). I tried every brand in the local stores and the one which felt the most comfortable and yet offered the most flexion support was the Tech 7. Unlike some of the Sidis and Gaernes in the same price range, there are no little screws to lose or pieces to fall off. I have no clue on overall durability as I only ride during the summers and then only for fun, but I can say that these boots gave me the confidence to ride again knowing that my feet and ankles would be safe. The looks and style are just a bonus and I highly recommend you try these before making any final decision about MX boots. I also recommend staying away from the 99-139 dollar price point boot. They are less expensive for a reason and one of the main reasons is comfort and support. Spend an extra hundred dollars and get something that will protect you and feel good while doing it. "

Solid Boot Investment
" I have had Fox boots and I have had Gaerne SG1's and there is no comparison as far as comfort, fit, price and performance is concerned. And they look good too, with the easily replaceable buckles and replaceable sole the boots cant be beat. "

" When I bought my Tech 7s this spring I was replacing Tech 8s so they had some big shoes to fill. The price was easier on the wallet and the looks are much better than the 8s. The 7s fit a little looser because of not having a booty and are a little less padded around the anke particularly. Otherwise they fit well and the buckles are much more durable. However, the sole is starting to come apart in several places on each boot letting water in badly. They are comfortable though and with the durability issues fixed would be a great boot. "

The Most Comfrotable Boots You Will Ever Put On!!!
" I wanted a pair of tech 7s really bad! I heard they we really comfrotable. I also loved the design of the boot, it is like furturistic looking. I tried one on and they were so great. But they do run a size big so get one size smaller than your normal foot size. And plus the tech 7s are so light. They may feel heavy holding them put when their on your feet they feel like feathers. You can lift your foot as high as you can like if you had your tennis shoes on. So I highly recomend them for anyone that wants real comfort. "

First pair of riding boots
" After riding in work boots for a long time I wanted to get a ( REAL) pair of riding boots. I had borrowed a cheap pair of boots years ago and they were super stiff and very uncomfortable. I was under the impression that all boots were the same and that was the price you paid for protection. Boy was I wrong ! The Tech 7's are awesome. I first was attracted to the tech 3's for the price but they were not quite as comfortable. The 3's seemed to run slightly narrower and were lacking some of the extra padding that made the 7's so comfortable .When trying to decide if the 7's were worth $100.00 more than the 3's the salesman asked me if i ever broke my bike 20 miles from camp. The thought of walking that far in uncomfortable boots made my choice easy.I have put about 150 miles of trail and desert riding on them so far and not a hot spot or anything. My first choice would have been traditional black but my 8 year old son wanted me to match his white tech 4's boots. And since they were out of stock in black, who was I to dissapoint my boy. At first they did seem a little (storm-trooper star wars looking ) but they have really grown on me and i am happy with my color choice.Go ahead treat yourself and buy a pair! "

Nice blend of style and function
" There are good and bad things to this boot but I personally really like them. I think rider reviews are a great idea and I hope mine helps you make the right decision for you. First thing you ought to know they are sized a full size too big. A size 11 in the Tech 6's was a perfect fit but a size 11 in the Tech-7's was way too big. If you are a size 11 then get a size 10. I broke my leg after my wife had purchased a pair of Tech-6's for me for Christmas. Since I could not ride they just sat in my closet unused. Then the Tech-7's came out. I had to figure out if I wanted to go with the latest and greatest or the tried and true Tech-6's. I went back and forth and back and forth until I eventually decided on the Tech 7's. There were some distinct differences between the two and in the end it came down to three things for me: Comfort, style and flexibility. Right out of the box- the Tech-7's feel like you are slipping on a pair of your favorite slippers. They are that comfortable. I personally think they are a great looking boot. Regular boots like the Tech-6's or Tech-8's have a dated look to me and the new style of the Tech 3's, 7's and 10's is easy on the eyes. I was really concerned about safety when deciding on which boots to buy. When I broke my leg I actually injured my ankle just as bad and I needed something with support. Truth is, I felt the Tech-6's would provide more support because they are much more rigid. The Tech-6's couldn't compete with the comfort of the 7's though and I personally like a more responsive, flexible feel. The plastic on the 7's is a softer compound than the 6's or 8's. I still feel like they offer great protection just not as stiff as other boots. So far they have held up great. I have the white ones which have a weird little screen vent in the ankle. I was worried about it clogging up with mud in cold wet weather but so far it has not been an issue. They really do a nice job of keeping my feet cool and dry. The buckles are smooth and easy to use. The one complaint I do have is with a piece of plastic that goes over the bridge of the foot. You have to make sure it is tucked underneath the top flap of the boot before you buckle them down. It's not that big of a deal but it seems like Alpinestar should have noticed it wasn't the best design. If the piece was a little longer or a little stiffer it would probably fix the problem. Well I hope that helps. If you like a quality, super comfy boot that lets you move and looks great this is a good deal compared to the price of the Tech 10's. If you are looking for something rigid and more traditional looking they the Tech-8 might be a better choice. "
A few of the reviews claimed that the boot runs a size large than regular, is this true?
Asked by Kawidave, Farmington NM
For me they fit true. I ordered them in the same size I wear street shoes in. You can alter the size by approx. 1/2 size by removing the foot bed.

What makes the tec 7 a better boot than the tec 3?
Asked by suzuki322
Basically the tech 7's have a little higher quality in the materials and features on the boot. The buckles are aluminum on the 7's and plastic on the 3's, the tech 7's use a full grain leather to help extend the life of the boot, and they also run a little bit different of a sole. So the tech 7's are just a little higher in quality and features compared to the tech 3's.

Do These Boots Come up Real high?
Asked by mxkid912, Long Island, NY
The height is like any standard MX boot. So they are going to go up probably about an inch or two below your knee on the average rider. If you have issues finding the right fit you might want to go to a local shop and try some brands on to see what ones fit the best.

what is the difference between the tech7 and the tech8

these two boots are very different from each other. The noticeably differences is the material they use in constructing the boot. also, the tech-8 includes a inner booty.

do these boots have good traction on hill and stuf if you fall?
Asked by shortbus
The sole is pretty grippy so you should be alright on a hill as long as it's not covered with super loose top soil.

Do these boots come with the small booties inside?
Asked by yamaha937
No, the ankle support is built into the boot itself. Only the tech 10s and 8s have the inner bootie.

no the tech8 and the tech10 do
