" i have a 2008 suzuki ltz400. & i thought this was suposed to work with the stock steering stem. well it dosent & i tried everything i could to make it fit from drilling out the brackets to grinding them down.. i also tried grinding down the bolts on the steering stem. nothing worked! now im stuck buying a longer steering stem... it's a really nice tank, i just wish i woulda known i needed a steering stem too "

DRZ400 Clarke tank
" I've had good luck with clarke tanks in the past but it took quite a bit of work to make this one stop leaking at the pet cock. The clarke setup at the petcock for the DRZ400 isn't a very good one with a rubber gasket combined with an oring ;( Also, the surface of the tank wasn't flush where the petcock mounts. It took a couple times and finally got the leak to stop by using aircraft fuel tank sealer - luckily I'm an aircraft mech and had access to the stuff. For a DRZ400 I'd recommend trying another type of tank due to this problem. Other than that the fit is good and lines up, plastic is tough and I love the see thru tanks. "

good tank
" I would have given it five stars but clarke drilled extra holes so the fuel valve could go on either side. There should have only been holes on the left side. Also tank comes dirty on the inside and with plastic shavings. Tank is sturdy, does not melt, overall it is decent quality. Bought it for an '02 yz426f. Also have one on my xr650. It is worth the money, also I recommend the clear/natural tanks. "

Good but could be better
" I got the tank for my 2003 CR250R. I read the reviews on the IMS tank and thats what made me choose the Clarke tank. 1st off my tank had the strange yellow substance coating the inside of the tank. The hole for the petcock to go into the tank was not stamped right so I had to trim it to get the petcock to go in. My suggestion is once you get the petcock in put some fuel in it and shake it for awhile then drain the fuel and plastic chips out. As far as plastic mounting up was not to bad was a little off. Radiator braces would not work with this tank on my bike. If this is the better of the two tanks I feel sorry for the ones who buy the IMS tank. "

needs more r&d
" Where to start?? i bought this tank roughly a week ago and when it got here there was a few things off about it. 1 the "white" color is actually more of an eggshell color than white and is pretty dull. 2 the radiator shrouds don't line up correctly, the bottom of the shrouds are fine but the top stuck out about 1/4" on both sides so you'll need a heat gun to get them to fit right. 3 there was a horrible smelling yellow substance in the tank (which cost me 2hrs of my ride day and 3 gallons of race gas) that when mixed with the fuel turned milky white and refused to burn AT ALL (wash tank out with small amount of fuel b4 putting on). Aside from that the tank looks good, isn't any wider than my stock tank between the knees, and extends the ride day quite a bit. And the weight is all down low so it doesn't make the bike feel top heavy at all. i also recommend replacing the cap because its kinda cheep. Granted it could just be bad luck on my part, but all of this was with ORIGINAL plastics not aftermarket. Oh and yes your WC rad braces will work, the left side has plenty of clearance but the right side will take a little tweaking to get it to fit just make sure its not in contact with the tank. "

Good Tank For My YZ426F
" Purchased a 3.2 gal clear tank for my YZ426F to extend my range. Fit and finish is good. Nice to be able to see the fuel level, so get the clear one. As mentioned by other revieweres, you can use your stock valve/brackets/tubing but you'll need an extra valve, tubing, and tee to be able to connect both sides of the tank. You only need to buy extra stuff if you want to get that last bit of fuel out of the lower right part of the tank. Or, you can just lean your bike over when you're low on fuel. "

DRZ 400 S fuel tank
" 3.9gallon tank ,Excellent fit , gas cock from old tank installed on new tank no problem , needed to replace vacumm line and fuel lines but was easy and any auto parts store has them, be sure to blow out the new tank , theres some plastic debris left inside when shipped. If you wish to make sure it can hold a full 4 Gallons, before installation, set fuel tank in Sun, let it get good and warmed up, use compressed air from blow gun and pump tank sealing with rag or what ever you have and will expand the tank slightly for more fuel, good luck "

Great buy for the money
" This Clarke tank is not as smooth as an IMS tank. The most noticable differance when riding between the 2 is the Clarke tank has a taller neck. The IMS is smother all around and the radiator shrouds naturaly fit the IMS, but when I put on the Clarke tank, the shroud kind of had a small tweek (only noticable when looking closely or installing). I had the IMS tank on my bike first, but after a knarly crash, I had an unrepairable hole. So I went for the best price tank on round 2.. The Clarke tank is worth the money, but comes with no petcock. A real bummer since the one on my stock tank had a bad seal. And the OEM petcock cost is $50. Live and learn. You get what you pay for is the moral of the story. On my next bike I would buy only an IMS tank, but this one does the job. Hope this helps you in your decision when you buy. Joe - San Diego, CA "

3.2 Gallon Great Tank
" Nice fit, looks great. Doesn't push the front of the seat up much at all so I was very impressed. Holds most of the gas really low so it is good for a low center of gravity. If you fill the tank you will definitely want to increase your fork compression a couple of clicks. "

Beats a $600 tank from the dealer
" I bought a used 2002 WR250F. I think the previous owner used a freakin impact to put the petcock on because the tank was cracked around the mounting holes! This tank was a good alternative to a $600 tank at the dealer, even though I had to drop a few more bucks into a new seat since this tank is actually a YZ tank. Still saved about $200. "

" This is my third clarke tank. I have one on my cr 500, drz 400 and xr 650 r. They fit right, are ergonomic, and I recommend the natural color, so that you can see how much gas you have left. Save a hundred. Get the clarke over the IMS. They look and work the same! "

" When it comes to oversized tanks, there is not alot of difference other than price. The clarke tank was lower priced, and has so far worked well for me. One suggestion for those looking at buying one is to consider the clear tank. Its great to be able to see your fuel level while riding. "

come on guys
" Good tank and has good fit. But the tank requires 2 petcocks which they dont tell you in the description. The directions that come with the tank say to use your old one, which is fine but what about the other side, so you have to buy one atleast. And you have to drill your own holes in the tank for the petcock and they do not give you directions for that. Also a T fitting would be nice to have in the kit you don't have to make another run to your local Autozone "

great tank
" Fit my bike great and only took a few minutes to install. I was concerned that it would make the bike feel wider, but it doesnt. The clear tank makes it really easy to tell how much fuel is left, which is a great plus for this product. The larger capacity makes long rides great.... No worrying about the next fuel up now! Like other said, the cap is low quality, but it gets the job done. You can always upgrade the cap if you need to. "

great tank, bad cap
" The tank fits great, went right on. I got clear so I can see the level. The cap was broken when it showed up in the mail, but wasn't obvious until it sloshed gas. Clarke sent me another one for free, which worked, but I did have to find proof of purchase first (wasn't easy for me). I have one on an older bike, with 8,000 trail miles on it, that still works fine (with the original Clarke cap). "

Awesome replacement tank
" Was skeptical at first with the fitment. When it arrived, it fit perfectly and has better clearance for aftermarket pipes. I got the clear one. Can actually see how much gas is in the tank. Would not recommend the cap, or at least drilling it out and installing a check valve in the vent hose. It has a check ball that failed on me and blocked the vent. That's why I gave it 4 stars. Other than that, I love it. "
what color and fuel capacity is the stock tank?

what color and fuel capacity is the stock tank?
Asked by jaime, california
I contacted Clarke and they said they usually try to 1 gallon over stock. So they said the stock capacity for you bike should be 2.2 gallons. We offer 2 stock capacity Clarke Tanks that come in OEM color (I'm sure it's going to be blue, but if you still have the stocker on just reference that color as OEM color) and clear (or Natural, which allows you to see the fuel level).

Is Clarke a good brand for a desert tank?
Asked by Yamasaki828993
Yes, Clarke is certainly a well established name with respect to aftermarket and oversized tanks so I'm sure you'd be perfectly happy and content with the fit and finish that Clarke provides in their products. Having said this, I would probably urge you to select a new oversized tank based purely on the size/volume that you are after. It seems to me that once you know what size tank you need and prefer given your riding style, your bike and the terrain you ride, then you should look at what each brand has to offer in comparrison with one another. So I guess the first question you have to ask yourself when selecting an oversized tank is "how big to I want to go?"

What size would you use for the Erzberg racing

Asked by jmlanky
The OEM references either the color or size. But it will specify which, most of the time it refers to the color. hardware is not included with the tank. You must use the original hardware to mount these tanks. They do include the cap though.

This tank is built to OEM specs, you must use all your original hardware.
