disappointed
" would not purchase or recommend this product . cam does not seem to have the same size hole on the end for the stock decompressor weight (larger hole), as a result decompressor does not work as well as on stock cam. Reps at hot cams were not very helpful and seemed to assenuate that it was my imagination. Cannot tell much difference in power (maybe because of decompressor weight?) Reinstalled stock cam and works fine. "

" i put this cam in and it made a new four wheel very noticable power gain and a lot more low to mid range power "
Would the stage 1 with an fmf exhaust and accelerator pump on and 04 crf450r work good from low to top end
Asked by glamis
the cam and the accelerator cover will definitely liven up the bottom and mid rang and adding an exhaust and air filter with it will do a lot of good on the top end. So it will be a good set up but make sure you pick up a jet kit with that exhaust.

do i need to rejet the bike that i put this in?
Asked by Snake, Winters CA
That's one of those Questions that's hard to answer most cases YES. not knowing how your bike or ATV is running now? Altitude, Riding conditions all make a difference. so for best performance gains YES jetting may be needed. also when ever you make any sort of motor modifications it always good to check your jetting even between riding seasons things change.

installation on 400ex
Asked by doubletrouble21985, florida panhandle
Yes the Stage 1: single-cam motor. Excellent midrange and top-end power increase. Uses stock valve springs and rockers. *Does not use auto-decompression mechanism. SIDE NOTE if your planning on a bigger motor later this is Not recommended for big bore applications over 426cc.

What would be the best cam for me stage 1 or stage 2?
Asked by Countryboy151
Hot Cams list the stage 2 for mx/desert racing. and the stage 1 is listed for woods riding. I would imagine that the stage 1 is good for woods for low rpm's and have better low range.

Another question, about cams
Asked by Countryboy151
Either one will work, but for best results with all the engine mods I would just step up to the stage 2.

hard to install on a 350 raptor
Asked by munnyman
It's pretty straight forward as far as installation. You will have to pull the head apart but it's nothing too major. If you haven't pull a head apart before I would recommend that you have a mechanic install it.

does the stage one hot cam come with a new adjustable timing gear

Go with a stage 1, the stage two is recommended for a mildly modified motors.

What stage cams?
Asked by NJdub7
I would stick with stage 1 on a stock motor for the best power gain.

Does the Scary Fast Power Now effect what stage to buy?
Asked by NJdub7
The power now shouldn't be what determines which cam to get. The decision should be based off if you're looking for bottom to mid range power increase (stage1) or mid to top end power (stage2).

I would say this would be a difficult installation. The choice of stages would be the type of power you're looking for; bottom to mid or mid to top.

Stage 1 cam will give you excellent bottom and mid range. Stage 2 cam will give you excellend mid range and top end.

stage 1 or stage 2

The stage 2 cam will have better lobes to accent the big bore kit installed on your quad.

does stage 1 take away any power from the top?
Asked by forthmeal250
need bike info please. some stage 1 cams help with bottom to mid and some help with mid to top end power.
Answered by JesseC, Tualatin
Does this cam affect the rev behavior?
Asked by forthmeal250
yes it will take away a tiny bit from your top end but unless you are revving it past 12,000 rpm, you most likely won't be able to notice a difference. here is the link for the dyno test from Hot Cams website... http://www.hotcamsinc.com/documents/support/10391A_1160173046898.jpg

Will a stage 2 hurt or make my stock 2007 crf250r lose power? witch one should i get?
Asked by crf250r196
Hot Cams wont make a cam shaft that makes you lose power. The Stage 1 will give you more bottom-Mid range power. The Stage 2 cam increases top-end power and give you more over-rev. So the question is were do you want more power? Both cams work with your stock valve springs.
