What It Is

The Quickshot 2 is the second-generation accelerator pump cover from the geniuses at Boyesen Engineering. Designed specifically for the '07 Honda CRF250R and CRF450R, the QS2 can also be fitted on all other four-stroke MX bikes with some slight carburetor modifications.

Hits

When the original Quickshot was introduced, we raved about its ability to eliminate the bog that four strokes suffer from when the throttle is twisted open quickly from idle. For 2007, Honda relocated the float bowl check valve to the accelerator pump cover, and the QS2 takes that design one step further. Bolting the QS2 on takes only a few minutes and can be done at the track if some precautions are taken to clean the carburetor and surrounding area first. (For our sea-level locale, the following are the carburetor settings we tested the QS2 with: 168 main jet, NKUS needle (2nd clip from top), 48 pilot jet, 45 leak jet, fuel screw 1 3/4 turns out, accelerator pump timing .115".) The difference we felt in throttle response with the QS2 bolted on was astounding. In stock condition, it was possible to kill the CRF250R's engine by holding the throttle wide open from idle, but with the QS2 installed, instant throttle response was gained. On the track, the bike felt livelier and much snappier, with no hesitation at all. Thanks to the instant throttle response, our test bike felt faster and more powerful, too.

Misses

The QS2 is model specific, but it can be used on other bikes if the ball bearing in the float bowl's check valve is tapped out with a small punch, first.

The Verdict

Once again, the guys at Boyesen have hit a homerun. The Quickshot 2 is, dollar for dollar, one of the best investments you can make if you ride a Honda CRF.

BOYESEN QUICK SHOT 2 ACCELERATOR PUMP COVER
" I wouldn't buy this for KTM bikes, it will not solve your bogging problem. This gives too much gas upon acceleration! You need a leak jet or BOYESEN QUICK SHOT 3 ACCELERATOR PUMP COVER to lessen the amount of fuel on acceleration. "

Great Product
" I have a 2004 YZ 250F. I wanted to add some more spunk to my bike. I read great reviews for this product from this site and magazines. This product gives me more power. Its consistant and smooth. It brings the front tire off the ground with ease and reduces the low end bog. I wish i bought this product years ago. "

2007 WR450 - Stock Jetting
" Only the 1st ride, but a major difference in the low end. Hesitation and bog - gone. Bike also starts way easier. However, it only works in conjunction with a proper fuel screw setting, and the accelerator pump timing screw set correctly. Boyesen provides directions on both, you just need to take the extra steps to make sure it's done right. "

Awesome product
" I was having a horrible time with the low end bog on my 2006 CRF450X...until I bought this product. I put on the quickshot 2 and a Powernow, and my bike runs totally different now. Has smooth acceleration all that way through the powerband. It doesn't feel like it added any power, but how smooth it made the bike accelerate is worth every penny. "

" Fantastic product. I immediately noticed a dramatic difference in throttle response over stock on my 06 CRF450. It almost eliminated all of the bog that was there when i would hammer the throttle. definately worth the money, a buddy of mine has an 06 kx450f and with the combination of this and an fmf pipe he pretty much has absolutey zero bog. his bike is a beast. i prefer mine though its much more easier to ride and control. " the installation isnt as easy as you may hear i have a trx 450r and you have to completely remove carb, adjust the timing to .100 and the screws are vey easy to strip i took it to dealer after realizing the smart but expensive route to go was through dealer install if your not the greatest mechanically inclined peron to remove a carb smartly go to dealer... good part
" Nice product looks good and is solid but its pricey. It helped my 250f, gave it more bottom end power and is snappier. For what little it does its not worth the money. Start elsewhere when putting mods on your bike make this a last resort. There's not much of a difference between stock and this product. "

QS2 for YFZ450
" The instal was easy, quick bolt on and then adjust 1 screw in the carb and your ready to go. I noticed more low end response with the ability to lug up hills better in slow conditions. A friend of mine races and noticed a huge difference from my quad to his 07 YFZ 450 with a pipe. Mine is stock other than this 1 mod. Works if you know how to read instructions. "

How easy is it to install
Asked by Rideblue
I personally installed one on my bike. I was able to remove the float bowl without removing the carb from the motor. If you can't access the bottom of the carb on the motor than yes you will need to remove it. It makes it a lot easier to install this with just the float bowl off.
Answered by james718
Is this better than the power now or should i get both
Asked by Rideblue
The Boyesen Quick Shot 2 and the Power Now do completely different things. So, you can't really say one is better than the other. I do know that the Boyesen Quick Shot will be the easiest and most beneficial modification you can do to any 4stroke. Installing both of these units will most likely increase the throttle response and help eliminate the low end bog.

It's just one of the better things to do as far as simple bolt ons. So it should definitely help

When installed do you have to change jet settings?
Asked by crozman
You might want to double check it just to be on the safe side. Normally the changes will be pretty minimal as far as jetting goes.

Why can't I purchase a QS2 for my 2008 CRF250
Asked by ChuckD
The Honda CRF250R '08 uses a different Boyesen Accelerator Pump Cover, called the Check Valve Model. We are in the process of figuring out why this will not come up on the website. If you are in need of the ASAP, you can give us a call and we can place the order for you on the phone. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will have this issue resolved soon.

How is it on the higher rpm's
Asked by Shorty99, Davenport,IA
It's smooth in the high RPMS but you will notice most of your gains in the low range.
Answered by Drewski, Por+land
Does the quickshot come with the gaskets seals and diaphram?
Asked by Fabricator450, Utah
No the diaphragm will not be included or the o-ring seal
Answered by james718
is this product hard to install?
Asked by Wixom
This would be on the more difficult side. The directions that come with this part are very specific. Here's a little tip though, I don't think the instructions say this, but remove the whole float bowl from the carb, this will make the installation a lot easier. The hardest part with this job is getting the carb off or turning it sideways to get to the screws holding the bowl on.
