" I bought this because I needed 36 tooth rear sprocket. And I'm not that impressed. After only 1 ride (about 5 hrs) it has hooked teeth. I installed a brand new chain and front sprocket at the same time as the rear and they still look new and they are not Renthal. I also checked my chain slack every hour and it was perfect. Renthal alum rear for YZ250 2stroke
" I could notice a difference with a steel sprocket on the back of my YZ250 when stabbing the rear brake in the air to lower the front. Since I had used the renthal steel on the front and alum on the rear on my CR250 and got +50 hours out of the set, I had no problem putting the two on my new YZ250. I do use an x-ring DID chain so that helps, but if you can't get a season out of an X-ring and Renthals on a 2 smoke you're probably a pro. BTW, I have an hour meter on my YZ. After 33 hours with renthal steel up front, alum in the back, and DID Xring there is almost no wear...this is motocross use and not hare scrambles. "

do you have any sprockets
Asked by CRF100F, Savannah,Tn
Unfortunately we only carry stock Honda OEM replacement sprockets for the CRF100F. Although we can special order several aftermarket choices.
Answered by grantr629, Tualatin
why don't you have driffrent colors
Asked by mxpark, Ruston, La
We stock all colored rear sprockets from Renthal for most big bikes (125cc and up). The color of the sprocket will be determined by which manufacture bike you own. Example: Red=Honda; Blue=Yamaha.

how many teeth'
Asked by 07ktmsxf, santa rosa
more teeth on the back gives u more bottom end power but makes ur bike a lil slower, less teeth takes away some power but u can go faster(which is good for desert racing). opposite on the front sprocket though, bigger front goes faster with less power and smaller goes slower with more power. changing 1 tooth on the front is like changing about 4 on the back so keep that in mind. so if u add a tooth on the front its like taking away 4 teeth on the back

Will I have to buy anything else?
Asked by HondaRiderr88, Cliffwood Beach, NJ
All our chains come in a 120 links which should be enough depending on how big you want to go. But yes if you want to go with a larger sprocket you will need a longer chain.
Answered by Drewski, Portland, OR
always buy an entire set, see a chain and sprocket bond to each other basically the way each chain guides into a sprocket is different than the next, if you buy a new chain and old sprockets then your sprocket will wear out in half the time it should. and vice versa
Answered by moto75, Cahttanooga tenn.

2006 crf150f???
Asked by jd7210
You aren't really stating the type of power you're looking for. If you need to gain more top end speed, lower the tooth count on the rear sprocket or add to the front sprocket. If you are needing more acceleration you would increase the tooth count on the rear sprocket or decrease the tooth count on the front. Every 520 chain we stock is 120 links. You will need to cut off the excess links you don't need. Here's another idea, Since that bike included from Honda a 520 chain and sprocket set, you can get through Renthal, a 428 conversion kit to lighten the drive train. If you want to increase the overall performance and speed, I would consider this avenue. We can special order the conversion kit in for you if you decide that's a better option.

Tooth set up
Asked by munnyman
Adding teeth to the rear sprocket will give you more low end torque. Subtracting teeth from the rear will take away some torque but add to the overall top speed. It's a matter of do you want acceleration or more speed. Keep in mind that this will change the characteristics of the machine depending on the type of terrain you'll be riding. I suggest have a few different sized sprocket on hand for each ride, to allow you to swap them out if your in need of it.
Answered by james718
How many should i go up?
Asked by munnyman
What I tell people is 1 tooth difference in the rear sprocket will be a subtle change, but 2 teeth will be a dramatic change. You'll need to compensate one for the other, and since you ride the quad, you'll need to decide what you really want out of the machine. I would suggest having a couple different sized rear sprockets on hand in case you want to swap them out from ride to ride.

How many teeth should i get for a rear sprocket on a 2003 honda crf 150f
Asked by DirtbikeManiac377
With out knowing what type of riding or the conditions your riding in it's hard to say. I know Honda spends a lot of time testing to get the best all around performance before going to production. if most of your riding is on slow tight trails maybe go up a couple of teeth on the rear, this will give you a little more bottom end and will be a little more responsive and opposite for the faster stuff going a couple teeth smaller than stock. going this way you may loose a little bit of the bottom snap but a little more top speed.

Durability
Asked by munnyman
After reading all the reviews on our site it looks like more people liked the sprocket than hated it and personally I've never had a problem with them.
Answered by Drewski, Por+land
Will this require a longer chain?
Asked by CR250RRider, Ky
The length of your chain is determined by your gearing.. So if you keep the same amount of teeth you shouldn't need a longer chain, but it is recommended to change your chain when you change your sprocket.
Answered by Drewski, Por+land
I have a 2001 yz 125 and i want some more speed coming out of the turns so how many more teeth bigger should i get?
Asked by maniacman09
1 tooth is a subtle difference, and 2 teeth are noticeable.

i got 04 cr250, i have 47t and stock is 50t. what size should i get for more bottom-mid end power for riding mx/sx tracks?
Asked by KtmAllTheWay
To gain more acceleration/bottom end, you will need to go up in teeth on the rear sprocket. 2 teeth are noticeable and 1 tooth will make a slight difference.

i just asked about the cr250 underneath, for more bottom end/acceleration james sed add 2 teeth, but i have the stock sprocket which is 50t...

If you already have a 50T use that over the 47T you mentioned in your first question. You will notice a huge difference in low end torque from the 47T to the 50T.

Asked by GrimReaper
I was able to cross reference the sprocket for a yz490 fitting the same as a 98 Wr400F as part number: 131U-520 So I don't believe the part number you gave will fit.
